About Lymore

Old Lymore House, now demolished

The Lymore Estate has a long and illustrious history stretching back to the time of the Norman Conquest in 1066, or even before. Formed from an amalgam of Lymore Park, Heightley, Rockley and Herbert Estates over the years, Lymore today is the responsibility of the Earl of Powis, who can trace his ancestral line back through the both the Herbert and Clive Families.

The beautiful woods and farmland of Lymore Estate are carefully managed and farmed as an area of unique historic and geographic importance.

Part of the famous Offa's Dyke runs through the Lymore Estate on its way from Prestatyn to Chepstow. It is thought that the Dyke was constructed in the 8th Century by Offa, King of Mercia. Today, the Offa's Dyke path attracts many walkers.

There are numerous public rights of way throughout the Lymore Estate and reliable maps are available showing the rights of way for walkers and horse-riders.
